Technical and Application Support/Field Engineer

Porter Lee Corporation is seeking a technical support professional who is looking for a challenging, fast-paced position utilizing a wide variety of technical skills including among others: product installation, database analysis, report writing and software troubleshooting. This is a second level support role where you will interact with the customer’s designated application administrators. This role will also support our project managers and implementation specialists for existing and new customer sites and provide feedback to our development team related to how the application performs in the field.

Successful candidates will exude a high level of enthusiasm for providing effective solutions to Police Departments and Crime Lab software applications in order to address our customers’ technical and application challenges. Customer service skills are a priority and ability to multi-task is critical.

Qualifications:

• Critical thinking skills
• Proven abilities to troubleshoot applications.
• Previous background in ours or a similar industry is highly desired.
• Experience with barcode scanners, barcode printers and palm pilots is a plus.
• Working knowledge of Oracle/MS SQL databases and database administration
• Proficient usage of database query tools (i.e. TOAD/SQL)
• Familiarity with both client-server and web-based applications, IIS, Microsoft Server 2003, 2008, .NET
• Experience with data interfaces
• Experience with Crystal Designer or Business Objects Enterprise preferred but not required
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to coach and train clients in software application usage
• Effective written communication skills including ability to write user-friendly application documentation.
• Software QA testing experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with various VPN products to conduct remote support preferred.
• Effective task management skills
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, forensics or comparable experience.
• Two years or better of technical support and/or business analyst experience
